Massage Therapy addresses two concerns:

Physical Therapy
Traumatic or post-traumatic stress

Through VA based research and CCAM (Commission on Complimentary and Alternative Medicine) studies, massage therapy has proven to decrease pain and anxiety and is the preferred treatment by most test participants.

Massage Therapy:

Decreases Soft Tissue Injury Pain
Decreases Post Surgical Stress
Increases Flexibility to Scar Tissue
Decreases Healing Time for Wounded Tissue

Massage stimulates hormones that suppress portions of the brain active in traumatic and post-traumatic stress. When used with other therapies, massage has been shown to help our heroes by increasing:

Feelings of well-being
Feelings of safety
Body awareness

In scientific terms: It simply stimulates oxytocin which in turn suppresses the amygdala.

We have had a positive response from the VA, however they have financial restrictions and limitations. So, WIN is dedicated to finding ways to finance this type of care.

We raise funds through

Chair massage
Fund raising events
Donations

WIN then pays a discounted rate to therapists to care for veterans referred for massage. The veterans are asked to make a small donation towards their treatment, if possible.

You can help by hosting a chair massage event, attend a fundraiser, volunteer or donate.

WIN is a network of specially trained clinical Massage Therapists who want to give back to our veterans through doing what they do best: massage therapy.

We also want to eventually include other complimentary and specialized therapies like; Tai Chi, Yoga, Aquatic and Equine Therapy.
